The rock temples of ABU SIMBEL, which rank among the most stupendous monuments of ancient Egypt, were built 3000 years ago to honor Ramses II and his wife, queen Nefertari. Four powerful figures of the pharaoh stand over 60 feet tall. The temple was rescued from Nile flooding in 1968. Engraved in the rocks of the mountain, the relieves on the walls describe military exploitation and journeys to the central Africa. (Incl. Guide) One of the largest temples constructed 30 B.C. It was saved and moved to its new site in 1964. The walls carry imported manuscript about Egyptian divinity: Isis, Osiris and Amoun. (SAH4)	8) Half day Kalabsha (3:30 hrs) - $45 pp Relish a trip to the Temple of Kalabsha, which has been dismantled and re-erected on a hill near the High-Dam site (Western Bank). This temple was originally built by Tutmosis II and Amenophis II at Kalabsha, 40 miles south of Aswan, and was restored during the Roman conquest.
